Padhu Seshaiyer

Padhu Seshaiyer is a Professor of Mathematical Sciences and also serves as the Associate Dean for the College of Science at George Mason University. He also directs two centers of excellence including the Center for Mathematics Professional Learning and Educational Technology and the STEM Accelerator program. Dr. Seshaiyer’s research interests are in the broad areas of computational mathematics, scientific computing, computational biomechanics and STEM education. His work has helped to initiate and direct a variety of educational programs including graduate and undergraduate research, K-12 outreach, teacher professional development, and enrichment programs to foster the interest of students and teachers in STEM at all levels. He has served as a PI of three NSF REU Sites in the last decade and also has served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation in the Division of Mathematical Sciences. He currently also serves on a variety of National committees including being a member on the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine Commission for Mathematics Instruction; Chair of the SIAM Diversity Advisory Committee and Associate Director for Applied Mathematics for the National Math Alliance.
